Wade Clark Roof, the J. F. Rowny Professor of Religion and Society and the director of the Walter H. Capps Center for the Study of Ethics, Religion and Public Life at the University of California at Santa Barbara, spoke at a public lecture for the Institute for Reformed Theology at Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education. The lecture, “The Seeker and the Believer: Might They Talk to One Another?” was given Tuesday, May 17, 2005 in Watts Chapel at Union-PSCE in Richmond, VA. Dr. Roof’s areas of academic interests include American Religious Trends, the Sociology of Religion, and Ethnography. Currently, he is conducting research on the religious pluralism and civic culture in California, and religious change through the generations. His published works include Spiritual Marketplace: Baby Boomers and the Remaking of American Religion (1999) and Contemporary American Religion (2000). He is also a columnist for beliefnet.com.
